Firefighters doused the blaze that broke out at Multiplan Centre, known as Computer Market, at Elephant Road in the city on Saturday.
Jahirul Haque Mia, deputy director of Dhaka Division Fire Station, said 14 fire brigade units rushed to the spot after the fire had broken out and doused it at about 12:55 pm. They, however, brought the fire under control around 12:03.
Shop owners said the fire originated on the fifth floor of the building at about 10:30 am. It is not still clear what actually caused the fire.
No causality was reported till filling of this report around 1:40 pm.
