Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka by a solitary goal in the second match of the two-match SS Steel Fifa International Friendly held on Monday at the Muktijuddho Smrity Stadium in Rajshahi.

Bangladesh forward Zahid Hasan Emily put the hosts ahead in the 3rd minute off a penalty. Sri Lankan vice captain Lakana Roshan brought Bangladesh skipper Mamunul Islam down at the left edge of the danger zone and the referee awarded the penalty. Emily sent Sri Lankan goalie Sujan Perera in the wrong way from the spot (1-0).

Lankan’s Roshan almost scored the equalizer in the 21st minute but his curved free kick from the top of the box hit the crosspiece.

The second half game was mostly confined in the midfield with Bangladesh cautious about safeguarding the lead while Sri Lanka failed to produce anything special.

The first match between the two sides tied 1-1 goal in Jessore.
