As Fakhrul along with BNP standing committee members Moudud Ahmed and Abdul Moyeen Khan went to BSMMU around 9:50pm, Awami League organising secretary AKM Enamul Haque Shamim and assistant office secretary Biplob Barua received them.

They then took the BNP leaders to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of the BSMMU to visit Quader.

Emerging from the hospital, Moudud said they found Quader asleep as he was sedated. “We talked to his wife and doctors and enquired about his health condition.”

“We pray to Allah for his (Quader) quick recovery,” Moudud added.

However, Moudud is an electoral rival of Quader as they have been contesting the national election from Noakhali-5 constituency since 1991.

Quader, also general secretary of Awami League, was admitted to the CCU of BSMMU in the morning following his breathing complications.

Doctors found three blockages in his coronary artery following an angiogram, BSMMU cardiology department chairman Prof Syed Ali Ahsan.
