Ershad now PM’s special envoy

His party is now the main opposition in the 10th parliament

Jatiya Party Chairman Hussein Muhammad Ershad has been made special envoy to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, a rank equivalent to ministerial position.

A gazette has been published to this regard on Sunday evening after the cabinet of the 10th parliament was sworn-in to office.

Though Jatiya Party is now officially the opposition in the parliament, it will be led by the party’s primary Presidium Member Rawshan Ershad.

Ershad was “put” to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) at capital since December after he voiced willingness to boycott the 10th parliamentary polls.

He has been there since throughout the elections and afterwards.

However, he did appear for his swearing-in as a member of the 10th parliament at the office of Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, on Saturday.
