Body of a Dubai expat — with a scarf around his neck — was found on Kuril flyover in Dhaka early today.

The victim, Subhash Chandra Sutradhar, was coming to Dhaka from his home in Bogura last night to catch a flight on Saturday to return to Dubai.

Police suspected he was murdered as his body bore injury marks and a scarf was tied around his neck, Shahinur Rahman, sub-inspector of Khilkhet Police Station, said.

On information, police recovered the body around 5:00am from the flyover and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy, he said.

Subhash had been working in Dubai for about five years, and returned home to get married in November last year, deceased’s brother-in-law Ripon Kumar Sutradhar said.

Last night, he boarded a Dhaka-bound microbus from Bogura for Covid-19 test and updating other documents for going back to Dubai on May 8, he said.

“He talked several times with his family members on the way. But police called us in the morning and informed us of his death,” Ripon said.

He had a bag and a wallet with him which are missing. He did not have any enmity with anyone, family said.

Police and family members suspected muggers are behind the murder.
