Don’t make provocative remarks: Abbas to AL

BNP Dhaka city unit convener Mirza Abbas on Thursday criticised the ruling party leaders for their remarks that BNP has no strength to wage a movement and urged them to refrain from making such provocative comments.

“Don’t instigate saying BNP has no strength to carry out a movement. Let politics take its own course,” he said.

Abbas, also a BNP standing committee member, was addressing a discussion arranged by Barrister Abdus Salam Talukder Smrity Sangsad at the Jatiya Press Club, marking the 15th death anniversary of the party’s ex-secretary general.

The BNP leader said the comments of Awami League leaders suggest that they want to hang onto power forever by resorting to repressive acts. “No repressive regime even Feraoun, Namrud could not cling to power, and the current regime won’t be able either.”

He warned the government that their ongoing movement will take a serious turn if it continues its oppressive and repressive acts.

“The movement will continue and people will show you how to wage a movement in due time. Try to understand your own heartburn,” Abbas added.
