Ruling Bangladesh Awami League (AL) nominated Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) mayoral candidate Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh on Tuesday expressed his optimism over the use of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) in the upcoming Dhaka city corporations’ elections, reports BSS.“Dhaka city residents are eagerly waiting to cast their valuable votes through EVM system in Dhaka south and north city corporations’ polls which will be held on 1 February as the method is enriched with modern technology,” he told newsmen during his electioneering in Ray Shaheb Bazaar area of old Dhaka.

He hoped the votes of the city-dwellers would go in favour of ‘Boat’, election symbol of AL, making him elected as mayor to make Dhaka a developed city.

Praising the support of the incumbent DSCC mayor Sayeed Khokon during the ongoing electioneering, Taposh said he (Khokhon) stays beside me despite not being nominated as a mayoral runner of DSCC as he is devoted towards the ideology of AL.

Party’s central leader Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya (Bir Bikram), south city unit president of AL Abu Ahmed Mannafi and former Jubo League general secretary Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi, among others, were present.
