Dhaka-Delhi bondage deep rooted: Pranab

‘Youth future of a nation’

Indian President Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday said India and Bangladesh have a common history, heritage and culture and the bondage between the two countries is deep rooted.

Welcoming the delegation of 100 members from Bangladesh, the Indian President said the youth are the future of a nation.

“They can decide the future course of action they want whether it should be conflict or conciliation, destruction or development,” he said.

Mukherjee made the remark while addressing the young members of the delegation at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi, according to a message received here from Indian High Commission in Dhaka.

The President appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, government of Bangladesh and High Commission of India in Dhaka for their efforts in organising the visit of the delegation.

He also conveyed his best regards to brothers and sisters of Bangladesh and his message to them was “we are with you”.

The President said that he was delighted to meet them as he has deep personal attachment with Bangladesh.

The High Commission of India in Dhaka in coordination with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and government of Bangladesh has organised this visit of the second youth delegation to India and arranged for them to tour academic, tourist and cultural sites.

The first youth delegation from Bangladesh had visited India from October 6 to 13, 2012.
