The last date for filling nominations papers is December 31

The elections to Dhaka North and South City Corporation are slated to be held on January 30, 2020.

Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda announced the schedule at his office Sunday evening, reports UNB.

The last date for filling nominations papers is December 31.

Returning officers will be scrutinizing nomination papers on January 2. The last date for withdrawing candidacy is January 9.

The entire elections will be held using electronic voting machines (EVMs) instead of traditional ballot papers, the chief election commissioner said.

The voting will be held from 8am to 4pm on the day, without any break, he added while declaring the election schedule at a press conference at the Media Centre of the Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka.

Election Commission Joint Secretary Abul Kashem has been appointed returning officer of the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) election, while another Joint Secretary Abdul Baten will assume the role of returning officer of the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) election.

The last elections to both the city corporations of Dhaka were held on April 28, 2015.
