Delhi murder-cum-robbery: Bangladeshi national arrested

Arrest-SAH

A Bangladeshi national, allegedly the kingpin of a Bangladeshi gang, has been arrested recently in India on charges of looting and murder in Preet Vihar, East Delhi.

The ‘kingpin’ – Badshah alias Kabir – was arrested on Tuesday, nearly three months after the house of the former director of prosecution was looted and his son murdered in Preet Vihar.

On April 25, Badshah and his aides had barged into Sumer Datta’s house in Preet Vihar after removing a window grille.

When Datta’s son, Animesh, tried to raise an alarm, Badshah smothered him with a pillow. They then looted the family of cash and jewellery at gunpoint.

A month later, the gang entered Dimple Kohli’s house in Anand Vihar and fled with cash and jewellery. The Bangladeshi accused then went back to their country while Tasleem returned to Bijnor.

The gang had also committed a similar dacoity at an industrialist’s house in Anand Vihar, said a report of The Times of India.

Another member, Tasleem, was caught on June 6 but Delhi police announced their arrest on Wednesday.

Although Tasleem was part of the gang, he was involved only in the Anand Vihar heist, police said. Badshah, along with six Bangladeshi criminals, had conducted the Preet Vihar murder-cum-robbery in April.

Tasleem, with eight criminal cases lodged against him, is from Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh. He gave crucial information on Badshah’s involvement in the Preet Vihar case.

“On June 6, the investigating team, led by inspector Rakesh Tyagi, got the first lead about Tasleem who had returned to Delhi. Tasleem was apprehended and he not only confessed but also disclosed about Badshah and his gang’s involvement in the Preet Vihar case,” said deputy commissioner of police (east), Ajay Kumar.

Teams were deployed at Benapole on the Bangladesh border to trace Badshah’s gang.

“We got to know that Badshah’s wife and children were in Delhi and kept a watch on them. We were also tipped off that Badshah would cross the border on July 6 for Delhi. Although he couldn’t be traced there, he went to Badayun in UP on July 8 to form a gang. The special staff immediately raided the place and caught him,” Kumar added.

Badshah told police that his associates Abu Said alias Master, Alamgir, Khaliq, Haroon, Chotu and Kaalia had assisted him in the Preet Vihar dacoity.
