DCCI to launch in June 5-month hunt for innovative SME projects

The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) is going to launch a five-month hunt for 2000 innovative small and medium enterprise (SME) projects across the country from next month (June), said its president Sabur Khan on Saturday.

Addressing a press conference at the DCCI headquarters, he also declared that an expo, titled “Entrepreneurship and Innovation Expo 2013”, will be organised by the DCCI following the hunt for innovative projects by young entrepreneurs to create a platform for their exposure.
Sabur noted that the target group of the initiative (5-month hunt) is the young people who have recently completed their studies – at least a diploma – and are determined to take the challenge of doing new things to change the course of their lives and contribute to the development of the country.
The selection will cover all the 64 districts as well as public and private universities across the country, he said.
Sabur said the DCCI will arrange training and motivation programmes for the selected young entrepreneurs and will also provide them with links to financial institutions to launch their projects.
During the two-day Entrepreneurship and Innovation Expo 2013, scheduled for November 1-2 this year, all the selected entrepreneurs will present their ideas that will also encourage others for business ventures, he added.
