DCCI seeks Turkish investment in B’desh

Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) President Mohammad Shahjahan Khan on Sunday urged the Turkish entrepreneurs to invest in pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, windmill, infrastructures and agriculture sectors of Bangladesh.

 

The request was made when President of Turkey-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce (TBCCI) Fedrick Cicek met the DCCI president at the Dhaka Chamber in city’s Motijheel.

 

Commercial Counsellor of Turkish Embassy in Dhaka Ms. Tulay Uyanik and Secretary General of Turkey-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce Murat Karaca were present in the meeting.

 

The DCCI president assured all possible support in this regard. He also stressed the need for removing all sorts of impediments in doing business between both the countries.

 

Mohammad Shahjahan Khan said that the friendly relations between Bangladesh and Turkey can boost bilateral trade and investment.

 

In response, the TBCCI President Fedrick Cicek said a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) could be signed between Bangladesh and Turkey. He informed that Turkey enjoys GSP facility in the EU market.

 

He said Bangladesh can get benefit from Turkey’s GSP facility in the EU market by exporting their products to Turkey.

 

Cicek also showed keen interest to work closely with the business community of Bangladesh.

 

He informed that a business fair titled “Turkey World Trade Bridge” will be held during June 16-22, 2014 in Turkey and urged the Bangladesh business community to attend the fair.

 

Commercial Counsellor of Turkish Embassy in Dhaka Ms. Tulay Uyanik sought cooperation in this regard to boost business between the two countries.
