Covid-19 surge: South Korea bans visas for Bangladeshis starting today

South Korea has imposed a visa ban on Bangladeshi citizens, effective from today, due to the rising number of passengers detected with Covid-19 going to the country from Bangladesh.

A notification in this regard was issued by the Bangladesh Embassy in Seoul today.

“The South Korean government has imposed a visa ban on Bangladeshi nationals in the wake of an increase in the number of passengers coming to South Korea from Bangladesh identified as Covid-19 positive. The ban will take effect on April 16, 2021,” the notification said.

According to diplomatic sources, the Bangladesh Embassy issued the notification after receiving a letter from the Korean Foreign Ministry this morning.
