Prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday alleged that several countries are not cooperating with Dhaka in bringing back the absconding killers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
She expressed the frustration in reply to a supplementary question from a ruling Awami League MP, Abdus Shahid, during the question-and-answer session in parliament.
“We’ve repeatedly contacted the countries giving shelter to the killers, without cooperation on their part,” said the prime minister.
Sheikh Hasina said the killers would be brought back if the countries where the killers have taken shelters agree to extradite them.
She mentioned that one of the killers was brought back with the cooperation of Thai government and executed as well.
“Two of the rest are staying in the United States, one is in Canada and the two who were in Libya may now be in Pakistan. The whereabouts of the rest two are not known,” the prime minister told parliament.
She also expressed her dismay, saying. “I don’t know why the US and Canada, even being developed and civilised countries, give shelters to the killers.”
Hasina alleged that Pakistan does not admit to sheltering the absconding killers. “Channel-i’s Tritiya Matra anchor Zillur Rahman took an interview of Colonel Rashid, so he knows the whereabouts of Rashid.”
She continued, “This (interview) suggests Rashid was in Libya and is now in Pakistan. Dalim is also staying in Pakistan. But we do not have the Pakistan government’s cooperation in finding them out.”

The day’s sitting of the seventh session of the Jatiya Sangsad began around 5:00pm with speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
