The Met Office has advised cautionary signal No. 3 for Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra maritime ports as a monsoon low in the Bay of Bengal could lead to squally weather.
In Sunday’s weather forecast, it said the low had been formed over the northwest Bay and across the Bangladesh-West Bengal coast.
Under its influence, steep pressure gradient lies over the north Bay, it said, adding that squally weather might affect north Bay, the adjoining coastal area, and the maritime ports of Bangladesh.
Authorities have been advised to keep the local cautionary Signal 3 hoisted at all maritime ports until further notice.
All fishing boats and trawlers in the north Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
