A case has been filed in connection with the murder of five members of a family, including two children, at Baburail in Narayanganj city.
Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Abdul Malek said Shafiqul Islam, husband of deceased Taslima, filed the case against unidentified miscreants with Narayanganj Sadar Police Station on Sunday morning.
He said that they were trying to find out the culprits and the reason behind the murder along with the police.
Members of the Criminal Investigation Department also collected evidence from the spot.
The victims are identified as Taslima, 35, her son Shanto, 10, her daughter Sumaiya, 5, brother Morshedul, 22, and sister-in-law Lamia, 25.
Police detained seven people for interrogation.
The detainees were Taslima’s husband Safiqul Islam, his younger brother also Lamiya’s husband Shariful Islam, Morshed Begum and Morshedul’s factory worker Rasel, Nayan, Najibul and Saiful.
Coroners at Narayanganj General Hospital said the victims had injury in head and several parts of their body and they strangulated to death.
Narayanganj superintendent of police Mahdid Uddin said the murders could be taken place as a sequel to family enmity. He thinks the murderers were not professional killers.
But Narayanganj CID assistant superintendent of police Ehsan Uddin Chowdhury said the killers were professional.
