Miscreants exploded three crude bombs in front of and on the rooftop of the official residence of Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni, now on her way to Brussels, at city’s 37 Eskaton Road on Tuesday.

“There’re three crude bomb explosions around 5:20am. Two of the crude bombs were exploded on the rooftop of her office there,” senior assistant secretary of the Foreign Ministry Mohammad Monirul Islam Kabir told UNB.

However, there was no report of casualty, he said adding that it was not clear who actually threw the bombs, and police are investigating the matter.

The Foreign Minister’s family members, including her husband Dr Tawfique Newaz, were in the house during the explosions.

On hearing the news, Dipu Moni voiced concern over the incident from Heathrow Airport.

Talking to UNB, DC Ramna Maruf Hasan Sarder confirmed the incident and said a process was underway to file a case in this connection.
