BNP’s decision to join UZ election proves democracy wins: Amu

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu on Friday said that the BNP’s decision to join the upazila elections proves Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was on the right path about the 10th general election.

“BNP’s decision to participate in the upazila elections proves that democracy wins in the country,” he said, addressing the inaugural session of the two-day representative conference of Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) at the IDEB Building.

“If the BNP can now participate in the upazila elections under the Sheikh Hasina’s government, what was their problem in the general election,” Amu said.

“Why they killed innocent people in the name of election boycott? They’ll have to answer for this.”

He said that all will have to participate in the elections accepting the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzman Khan Kamal and IDEB general secretary M Shamsur Rahman also spoke at the programme, chaired by IDEB president AKMA Hamid.
