BNP welcomes Joy to politics; suggests him to be sober

 

Welcoming Prime Minister’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy in politics, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday suggested him to pursue healthy politics.

“Sajeeb Wazed Joy has returned home. We don’t know how long he will stay in the country as he has got dual citizenship … we won’t oppose him if he wants to do politics. But I want to tell him, you please, use decent language. Because people have started suspecting you after your first speech,” he told a protest meeting.

All Party Students Unity (Apsu) of the 90’s and Ducsu arranged the programme at the Jatiya Press Club protesting the indecent remarks against BNP senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman by the Prime Minister and her son.

Fakhrul said as per media report Joy is going to start his political journey from today (Wednesday). “We’re waiting to see how Joy starts his career as a politician.”

Criticising the Prime Minister’s son for his comment that he has information about Awami League’s return to power, The BNP leader wanted to know the source of his information. “From where did you get the information?  Did you get it from Harvard University?”

On July 23, Joy claimed he has information Awami League will return to power through the next general election.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina defended her son’s comment saying, “Joy said one thing: he said on the basis of a survey and a poll.”

Mentioning that Joy in one of his write-ups claimed to have militants in the Bangladesh Army, Fakhrul alleged that Joy on various occasions tried to brand Bangladesh as militant country. “We’re worried about his such role.”

The BNP leader urged the ruling party to stop their propaganda against Tarique Rahman as it will not help the resist him. “Tarique didn’t suddenly appear from the USA to lead people. He has long been involved with the people of the country.”

Fakhrul said his party neither supported any illegal and unconstitutional government nor want to see such regime in power.

Reiterating his party’s position that it will not participate in the general election if it is held under a partisan government, the BNP spokesman urged the government to restore the caretaker government system to ensure free, fair and credible polls.

Chaired by BNP joint secretary general and former Ducsu vice-president Amanullah Aman, the programme was addressed by among others, BNP leaders Asaduzzaman Ripon and Nazimuddin Alam, Fazlul Haque Milon and Khairul Kabir Khakon.
