BNP to respond if invited to talks: Khaleda

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia today said her party is ready to response if the government invite them to a dialogue on the ongoing political crisis.

The opposition leader made the remarks when visiting US Congressmen Steve Chabot called on her at her Gulshan residence, BNP Vice-chairman Shamsher Mabin Chowdhury told reporters.

Khaleda expressed her stance over the ongoing political crisis of the country and opposition’s demand for the restoration of the non-party caretaker government.

Referring to the war crime tribunals, Shamser said the Congressman told the BNP chief that they have some concerns over the process.

Khaleda told the US Congressman that BNP also wants to see the trail but it should be done in a transparent way.

Earlier, Steve told the reporters: “We look forward to see a free, fair and transparent election in Bangladesh. Bangladeshi people deserve no less than that.”

He also urged all political parties to take step to stop the violence immediately.
