BNP should organise it for next polls: Nasim

Health Minister Mohammad Nasim on Wednesday advised BNP to organise it keeping cool head for the next general election.

“There’ll be of no use if BNP unleashes violence across the country in the name of movement. They should prepare themselves for the parliamentary elections to be held in 2019,” he said.

Nasim, also the presidium member of the ruling Awami League, was addressing a discussion organised by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at the Teacher-Student Centre on Dhaka University (DU) campus.

He also said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina restored democracy in the country facing many obstacles, and alleged that BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia did nothing in this regard.

The minister also alleged that some anti-liberation forces are involved in carrying out misdeeds in the name of BCL.

He observed that BCL should cut off ties with those who damage the organisation’s image and do clean politics.

Nasim claimed that the country’s people do not know the name of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD). “Besides, they didn’t play any role in the country’s politics.”

AL organising secretary Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, former BCL president Mahmud Hasan Ripon and its former secretary Mahfuzul Haider Roton, among others, spoke on the occasion with BCL president Bodiuzzaman Shohag in the chair.
