BNP must apologise before seeking votes in UZ polls: Amu

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu on Friday said BNP must apologise to country’s people before seeking votes in upazila polls for budging from its stance on not to participate in any polls under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

“BNP had earlier announced not to take party in any election under Sheikh Hasina. They created a horrific situation in the country by burning people to death, and vandalising and torching houses and vehicles to foil the election. But, they are now participating in the upazila polls under the Sheikh Hasina-led government,” he said.

The minister was addressing the annual sports and cultural competition of Manpasha Sher-e-Bangla High School in Sadar upazila in the morning.

Amu also claimed that the Awami League government has turned Bangladesh into a modern country.

District AL president and Zilla Parishad administrator Sardar M Shah Alam, AL general secretary Advocate Khan Saifullah Panir, among others, were present at the function with school managing committee president Dr Anwar Hossain in the chair.
