BNP MP hits back at treasury bench members

In a counter attack on the treasury bench members for criticising BNP senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman, opposition MP Syeda Ashifa Asrafi Papia said people want to know the source of income of Prime Minister’s son Sajib Wazed Joy as he bought nine houses in the US from 2004 to 2006.

“As you’ve made many indecent remarks against Tarique Rahman in parliament there’s no obstacles to do so about Joy…he bought nine houses from 2004 to 2006 in the USA. “The money you (Joy) have laundered from Bangladesh from 2006 to 2013, you’ll be able to buy half of America if Awami League comes to power again,” she said.

“But you won’t be able to win people’s hearts. Wining people’s hearts is the best asset of the world,” he said while taking part in general discussion on the proposed budget.

The opposition MP also questioned the sources of income of Prime Minister’s son Joy and daughter Saima Wazed Putul who are living in the USA and Canada respectively.

She said Tarique does not need to siphon off money as he does not have any house aboard or he has no relative abroad.

Papia also came down hard on Information Minister Hsanul Haque Inu for calling Zia a killer, branding him as an opportunist.

She said Inu who was sentenced to 12 years in jail was freed by Zia. “He (Inu) is now against Zia.”
