BNP looking to make Tarique more active in politics

The BNP charter is being amended to fix the job responsibilities of the senior vice-chairman post, currently occupied by Tarique Rahman, the party said yesterday.

“We have made Tarique Rahman inactive organisationally in the party as he was not assigned any specific duty… So, we want to fix Tarique Rahman’s job responsibility and make him more active in the party,” Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, a standing committee member of the party, told a discussion at the party’s Nayapaltan headquarters.

Goyeshwar said a proposal regarding Tarique’s responsibilities in the party would be placed to Khaleda Zia. “Then the party leaders and activists will know what are the job responsibilities of Tarique Rahman, and party leaders can communicate with him accordingly.”

Before the March 19 BNP national council, Khaleda and Tarique have already been elected uncontested as the party chief and the senior vice-chairman respectively.
