BNP leaders attend meeting at US ambassador’s residence

A six-member BNP delegation, including Standing Committee member Abdul Moin Khan, attended the meeting that lasted for two hours on Monday morning.

BNP leaders, however, did not comment on the meeting, which was held a day after one of its joint secretary general, Aslam Chowdhury’s arrest for his suspected links with Israel over a ‘conspiracy’ to topple the Bangladesh government.

“The ambassador invited us to a breakfast meeting,” is what a party leader, who attended the meeting, told bdnews24.com.

Apart from Moin Khan, Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan, BNP chief’s advisers Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Inam Ahmed Chowdhury and Sabih Uddin Ahmed took part in the meeting.

The senior BNP leaders remained tight-lipped on whether the matter of Aslam was discussed. After the meeting, they went to the party chairperson’s Gulshan office.

US State Department official Todd have been holding meetings with representatives of the government, business community and civil society since his arrival in Dhaka on Sunday.
