BNP leader Hannan Shah placed on 2-day remand

A court here on Tuesday placed BNP standing committee member Brig (retd) ASM Hannan Shah on a two-day remand in a case filed with Bhatara Police Station in connection with a vehicle torching.

Metropolitan Magistrate Tareq Mainul Islam passed the order when the investigation officer of the case Ekramul Haque, also a sub-inspector of Bhatara Police Station, produced him before the court in the afternoon, seeking a 10-day remand for him.

Earlier, plainclothes police detained Hannan Shah, a BNP standing committee member, from the city’s Baridhara area on Monday night.

Later, he was shown arrested in a case filed with Bhatara Police Station in connection with torching a vehicle on October 26.

On the day, miscreants torched a bus of ‘Bandhu Paribahan’ in front of Group 4 (S) (Security Agency) office in Pragoti Sharani Office in city’s Baridhara area in the evening, a day before the BNP-led 18-party alliance two-day hartal.

Later, police filed a case against 19 identified and eight unidentified people with the police station.
