A local BNP leader and his daughter were killed allegedly by some outlawed party men in Mujibnagar upazila on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Dr Helal Uddin, 40, joint secretary of Mujibnagar upazila unit of BNP, and his daughter Mitu, a second year student of Mujibnagar Degree College.

Quoting witnesses, police said a group of activists of the outlawed outfit Purbo Banglar Communist Party (Janajuddho- Bikash Group) hit Helal with sharp weapons indiscriminately when he was just entering his house at about 7.00am, leaving him dead on the spot.

The bandits also struck his daughter Mitu the same way as she came to his rescue.

They later left the scene blasting four bombs.

Mitu was rushed to Meherpur General Hospital where she died at about 12.30 am.

Rabiul Islam, officer-in-charge of Mujibnagar thana, said the reason behind the killing could not be known immediately.

The bodies were sent to Meherpur General Hospital morgue.

Superintendent of police Mozzaffar Hossain visited the spot.

  1. The evil politics of this country has been giving indulgence to underground goons in different political names; but in truth they are none but gangs of goons, muggers and killers -sometimes hired/contact killers. Both the big parties have been using them to their evil designs and therefore no one in this country is safe from their hands. Today if it’s BNP, tomorrow it may be AL. But who cares? The devil has brainwashed both the top leaders of the two big parties who are rampaging across the country only for power. God knows how many innocent people will have to make extreme sacrifices to implement their dirty, rotten politics.

  2. Mr. S. Ali has clear observation about the law and order. Bangladesh is ruled by thugs and lawless rulers. They pardon criminals and then give a rousing funeral to the very person who [pardoned those killers.
