BNP hits back at AL leaders for remarks against Tarique

In a scathing attack on ministers for what he said making indecent remarks about their party senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman, BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Monday said the ministers and ruling party leaders have gone mad in fear of losing power.

“The remarks of ministers and the ruling party leaders have given an impression that they’ve gone mad like those escaped from Pabna Lunatic Hospital,” he said.

Rizvi came up with the remarks while addressing a press briefing at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office.

The BNP leader alleged that the ‘illegal ministers of the illegitimate government’ are regularly attacking the opposition in offensive language just to appease the Prime Minister. “Their main target is the Zia family.”

He slammed Law Minister Anisul Huq for his comment that Tarique is speaking from abroad as he was born overseas. “You (Anisul) know it for sure Tarique Rahman was born in Bangladesh. You also know it very well why he is staying abroad.”

The BNP joint secretary general said Tarique has been receiving treatment in London as he fell seriously sick due to brutal torture during the army-backed caretaker government.

Terming the minister’s remarks about Tarique devoid of political etiquette, Rizvi said the ruling party men are spreading false propaganda against Zia family as part of their deep-rooted conspiracy.

Mentioning that BNP is not a baseless party, he said it came to power time and again with the support of the country’s people.

Describing the current government as illegal, the BNP leader said it is staying in office only with the power of guns and the support of foreign power.

He warned that the BNP-led 19-party alliance is taking all-out preparations to dislodge this regime through a strong movement together with people.
