BNP can’t realise unconstitutional demand thru’ movement: Hanif

Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif has said BNP has no ability to realise any unconstitutional demand through its movement.

“Awami League is the party of mass people. BNP has no ability to realise any unconstitutional demand through movement,” he said on Wednesday pointing at BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s remark that the next parliamentary elections will be held much ahead of 2019.

Hanif was addressing a discussion at Krishibid Institute in the city’s Framgate area. Bangabandhu Krishibid Parishad, a pro-AL association of agronomists, arranged the discussion marking the August 15 National Mourning Day.

The AL leader said their party will rule the country for more 10 years. “A long-term government is needed for their country’s rapid economic progress.”

BNP has no chance of winning the next national election to be held in 2019 as the country is progressing under Sheikh Hasina’s leadership, he added.

Demanding trial of Ziaur Rahman for ‘his involvement in the assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Hanif said the nation will have to free from stigma by holding the posthumous trial of Ziaur Rahman.

Claiming that Ziaur Rahman did not join the Liberation War willingly, he said the BNP founder had taken part in the war as a Pakistani agent.

AL organising secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, among others, spoke at the programme held with President of Bangabandhu Krishibid Parishad Dr Abdur Razzaque in the chair.
