The BDR mutiny took place with the objective of keeping the borders insecure, the BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has alleged.

“Proper justice of the trial did not take place. It was farce in the name of trial. We demand proper trial and fair investigation of BDR mutiny,” he said.

Fakhrul made the statement while talking to the journalists after placing wreaths at Zia’s grave on Tuesday afternoon.

“February 25 is a mourning day for the people of Bangladesh and the country’s sovereignty was put at stake on that day,” the BNP leader said.

He added:  “Those who do not believe in country’s sovereignty led to the Pilkhana carnage. The masterminds of the killing were not tried nor were they not implicated in the case.”

Regarding militancy, Fakhrul said: “Awami League is the patroniser of terrorism and militancy in the country which has been proved to the countrymen.”

The BNP leader also alleged that the government has been using state machineries to repress the opposition and have been launching state-sponsored terrorism across the county in this regard.
