BANGLADESHI SHIP TILTED IN ANDAMAN $1000 for each missing crew

The owner of cargo vessel MV Hope that tilted in the Andaman Sea near Thailand coast on July 4 has declared $1000 prize money for the news of each missing crew.

The Bangladeshi ship tilted about 30 nautical miles off Phuket while returning to ChittagongPort from Malaysia with 17 crew members and 5,500 tonnes of ball clay.

Of the crew, six are still missing.

Capt Mohiuddin Abdul Kadir, representative of the ship owner, confirmed the announcement of the bounty to The Daily Star.

Mohiuddin said a news sender will be given $1000 for the news of each missing crews, reported our Chittagong correspondent.

This news was also disseminated to the fishermen in Phuket coast after some Thai fishermen found four floating bodies in south Phuket near KohRokIsland Monday afternoon.

On July 2, MV Hope left Port Lumut of Malaysia for Chittagong Port with the crews and ball clay. It met hostile weather early on July 4 and tilted.

Out of fear, all the men on board had abandoned the ship. Six of them were rescued on the same day and another three the next day.

Two crews’ bodies were also recovered on July 5.

Since then, six other remain missing.
