Bangladeshi dies in Malaysia bus crash

Rescuers work at the scene of a bus crash at Genting Highlands, 55 km (34 miles) from Kuala Lumpur on Thursday. A bus travelling from the Malaysian hilltop gambling resort of Genting Highlands to the capital Kuala Lumpur plunged 200 feet (60 metres) into a ravine on Wednesday, killing as many as 32 people, officials said.

The accident took place when a bus plunged into a deep ravine near a highland resort.
The deceased, Rafiq Ali Bhuiyah, 50, went to Malaysia with his family on a tour three days ago, said a counsellor at Bangladesh high commission in Kuala Lumpur.
The injured — Rashidah Bhuiyah, 46, wife of Raifq and their two sons Rezyan Arefin Bhuiyah, 22, Raawnak Arefin Bhuiyah, 13, and their relative Ali Haider, 40, — were admitted to two hospitals in Malaysia, counsellor SN Anisul Haque told The Daily Star.
He said Rafiq and his family went to Malaysia from Singapore where they first visited from Bangladesh on August 15.
Rafiq was living in Canada with his family as its citizen for the last seven years, Haque said adding that there was another son of the deceased who due to reach Malaysia Friday.
The counsellor also confirmed The Daily Star that Rafiq and three members of his family went to Malaysia with Canadian passport. The burial of the deceased will be held upon the decision of his family.
Prior to leaving for Canada, Rafiq served as a ward commissioner of Goran in the Dhaka City Corporation for 18 years, added Anisul.
