Bangladesh wins ITU e-Governance award

WSIS Award is a global recognition with regards to the creation, distribution, use, integration of ICTs in a significant economic, political, and cultural activity

Bangladesh has achieved the prestigious WSIS Project Award 2014 in ICT Application: e-Government category this year.

Geneva based Information and Technology overseers ‘International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has awarded the prize on Tuesday.

ITU has handed over the award to the State Minister (ICT Division) of the Ministry of Post, Telecommunication & Information Technology, Zunaid Ahmed Palak MP, in Geneva at 1pm local time.

He on behalf of the a2i (access to information) of Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) accepted the award.

Palak wrote on his Facebook page: “Bangladesh was chosen from about 150 projects of different countries.”

The Project Director of a2i Mr Kabir Bin Anwar and UNDP’s Assistant Director KM Morshed were present during the award giving ceremony.

WSIS (World Summit on the Information Society) Award is a global recognition with regards to the creation, distribution, use and integration of ICTs in a significant economic, political, and cultural activity.
