Bangladesh secured the semi-final berth in the maiden SAFF Under-18 Women’s Championship after a massive 17-0 win over lowly Pakistan at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimpu, Bhutan on Sunday.

Sirat Jahan Shopna scored seven goals while Marzia scored four for Bangladesh, who recorded their biggest ever win in any competitive football match at any level in this game.

Bangladesh’s previous biggest win came in 2015 when they thrashed Bhutan 15-0 in the AFC Under-14 Regional Championship in Nepal.

Sheuly Azim scored a brace while Misrat Jahan Mousumi, Akhi Khatun, Krishna Rani Sarker and Tahura Khatun also join the goal fest for Bangladesh, who led the first half 8-0.

The win also took them in the last four along with Nepal who earlier thrashed Pakistan 12-0.

Bangladesh started with attacking mode as they opened the account in the seventh minute of the game when Shopna provided a square pass to Marzia, who calmly slotted the ball home from handshaking distance.

Shopna doubled the lead three minutes later when she found the back of the net with nice placing following a short pass of Krishna Rani.

Marzia made it 3-0 in the 13th minute and completed her hat-trick in the 22nd minute before Shopna scored her second in the 30th minute slotting home following a low cross of Sanzida.

Sheuly Azim scored the sixth converting a penalty just two minutes later.

Misrat Jahan Mousumi made it 7-0 in the 37th minute placing home from goal mouth melee.

Shopna completed her hat-trick in the 44th minute heading home from handshaking distance after Sanzida’s initial attempt hit the woodwork.

Bangladesh went to the break with a clear 8-0 lead as they added nine more goals in the later half with Shopna scoring four more goals.
Akhi, Marzia, Krishna and substitute Tahura Khatun added one goal each in the half to give Bangladesh the comprehensive win.

Earlier in August, Bangladesh Under-15 women’s national team edged past Pakistan 12-0 in the SAFF Under-15 Women’s Championship at the same venue.

Bangladesh will face Nepal on Tuesday.
