BGB Cox’s Bazar Sector Commander Col M Anisur Rahman told bdnews24.com on Saturday that they would be brought back after a flag meeting with Myanmar’s immigration department at Dhenkibunia around 10:30am on Aug 25.

National Programme Officer of the Bangladesh chapter of the Organisation for Migration (IOM) Asif Munier said the organisation finished preparations to bring home the 125 migration-seekers identified as Bangladesh nationals.

IOM would provide transport and medical costs, and all other humanitarian help for them, he said.

Among the rescued 20-25 are adolescents, according to Munier. Most of the rescued are from Cox’s Bazar.

He also said one or two more could be added to the list of Bangladeshis to be brought back.

Cox’s Bazar Police Superintendent Tofail Ahmed said they would be brought to the district’s cultural centre through the Ghumdhum border.

They would be sent home after completion of interrogation and immigration related work, he said.

Myanmar Navy rescued 208 boat people on May 22 and 727 on May 27.

Bangladesh brought back 501 of them in four phases on June 8, June 19, July 22, and Aug 10.
