Bangladesh received a wake-up call ahead of their tri-series campaign in Ireland when they suffered a 88-run defeat against Ireland Wolves in the lone warm-up match at the Hills Cricket Club in Dublin on Sunday.
Chasing a stiff target of 308 runs, the Tigers were bundled out for 219 runs in 42.4 overs after their batsmen showcased poor batting performances.
Sakib al Hasan top scored with 54 off 43 balls while Mahmudullah scored 37 runs.
Bangladeshi openers Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das gave them a stable start with making 56 runs before they were dismissed for 21 and 26 runs respectively.
None of the middle-order batsmen – Mushfiqur Rahim (11), Mohammad Mithun (13), Sabbir Rahman (0) and Farhad Reza (15) could deliver much to the innings as Bangladesh ended with a hammering defeat. Simi Singh claimed 4-51 for Wolves.
Earlier, Wolves made 307-8 in their stipulated overs thanks to opener James McCollum who made 102 off 109 balls while Singh struck 91 off 95 balls.
Taskin Ahmed and Rubel Hossain finished with 3-66 and 2-63 respectively for the Tigers.
