Nazmul Hassan, president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, has revealed that Bangladesh may host a four-nation ODI tournament in November this year. Hassan said West Indies had shown interest in a four-nation series, and stated Pakistan and Zimbabwe could be the other two teams to feature along with Bangladesh. The tournament, however, will depend on the schedules of other teams.

According to the draft of the ICC’s Future Tours Programme seen by ESPNcricinfo, West Indies may tour Sri Lanka until mid-November, while Pakistan could play against England. The draft does not specify any series for Bangladesh and Zimbabwe yet.

Hassan said that the willingness of more teams to tour Bangladesh is good news. Bangladesh are supposed to host Pakistan, India, South Africa and Australia until October this year. The country will also host the Under-19 World Cup in early 2016, while the BCB is also mulling the reintroduction of the Bangladesh Premier League this year.

“More countries want to play against us, when previously we had to ask for tours,” he said. “Three more countries want to play this year, apart from the bilateral series. West Indies are leading the countries. They want to play a four-nation tournament here in November with Pakistan and Zimbabwe, and Bangladesh.”

Bangladesh are also looking to play more ODIs in the coming years to raise their ranking ahead of the next Champions Trophy and World Cup.
