Bad road hampers traffic movement

PATUAKHALI, JAN 21: Vehicle movement at Kawarchar road of Kalapara upazila under the district has been hampering for the bad shape of the road. The road links Alipur fish port to Kawarchar sea beach. For this hundreds of tourists including 20, 000 people of five villages under Dhulasar UP of the upazila have been suffering. Tourists of Kuakata, who want to visit natural sea beach, they have to go Kawar char sea beach, adjacent to Kuakata tourist resort. LGED started carpeting the road in 2004-2005 fiscal year at the cost of taka 50 lakhs. Due to absent of repair two kilometers road of Chapli bazaar to Kawarchar sea beach turned into bad shape. Following tourists including 20, 000 people of Char Chapli, Nutan para, west Chapli, Char Gongamati and Kawarchar villages of the upazila fell in suffer due to bad shape and big ditches created on the road.

Md. Shakil, a business man of Chapli bazaar, said, locals requested to Kalapara LGED office about this road bad shape in several times but LGED did not take initiative about this road repair.
The business man further said, due to bad shape on the road tourists’ vehicle detained on the bad shape of the road some times.

Niloy Hossain, a tourist of Khulna City, said, Kawarchar sea beach is an attractive sea beach. But the road condition of Kawarchar is very bad.

Pronob Kumar, Kalapara LGED engineer, said, the road is an important road but LGED has no fund to repair it. After getting fund we will repair it in first priority.
