A local leader of the ruling Awami League has been shot dead in Noakhali Sadar Upazila.
The murdered Abul Hossain was president of the party’s Ward No 4 committee in Andarchar Union.
He was returning home on foot when shot by the assailants, the OC said.
Locals rushed Hossain to the Noakhali Sadar Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead.
“Abul Hossain was shot in the chest and abdomen. He died before he was brought to the hospital,” said Mohammed Salim in the hospital’s emergency unit.
Police has not been able to ascertain the motive behind Hossain’s murder.
