Arrest warrant issued against Kader Siddique

A Dhaka court on Tuesday issued a warrant for arrest of the Krishak Sramik Janata League president, Abdul Kader Siddique, Bir Uttam, in a defamation case filed by one freedom fighter Ruhul Amin Mazumder. Ruhul Amin filed the case on February 19, 2013 following a statement Kader Siddique made in a meeting held in the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh on February 9, 2013. Ali Masud Sheikh, additional chief metropolitan magistrate-4, passed the order cancelling the bail as Kader Siddique missed 14 scheduled dates consecutively for appearing before the court. The court asked the police to submit the warrant execution report by December 11. The court also asked the complainant, Ruhul Amin who remained absent since filing of the case, to appear before the court on the date and to explain his absence since filing of the case. Today was the date of framing charge against him. According to the case statement, Kader Siddique, in the meeting, said that it was not possible to hold trial as there was a Razakar minister for home affairs. MK Alamgir was the then minister for home affairs during the previous term of ruling party Awami League in 2013.
