Ansar member killed in clash with drug peddlers in Feni

An Ansar member was killed while an executive magistrate and two others of a mobile court were injured in a clash with drug peddlers near the bordering area at Phulgazi upazila in Feni on Wednesday night.

Upazila nirbahi officer Kisinger Chakma confirmed the news of death.

The Indian Border Security Force found the body of the Ansar member Thursday morning and took it away, he said.

They will return the body and another person, who was held by the BSF, after a flag meeting with the Border Guard Bangladesh in the afternoon, the UNO added.

Police, earlier, claimed the Ansar member, Nawsher Ali, remained missing since the clash.

Executive magistrate, Sohel Rana, who was undergoing treatment at Feni General Hospital, said he led the mobile court to arrest drug traders at Khana Bari of Badarpur on Wednesday night.

Several drug peddlers were caught red-handed there, he said.

Later, drug peddlers in the locality carried out attack with sharp weapons on the members of the mobile court, leaving three people including Sohel Rana injured.

The law enforcers fired shots to bring the situation under control.
