All obstacles will be blown away in civil uprising, says Khaleda Zia after facing protests

“Obstructions are being created at different places. No obstruction will work. All obstructions will be blown away in mass uprising,” she said at Dhaka’s Badda during campaign for mayor aspirant Tabith Mohammed Awal on Sunday.

Khaleda’s statement came after she faced protests by pro-government activists while campaigning at Uttara.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who blamed Khaleda for the violence during the blockade she had called, urged people to demand an explanation from the BNP chief on the matter wherever she went.

Ruling Awami League supporters gathered in Uttara’s Sector 1, waving black flags as Khaleda’s motorcade passed the area on Sunday.

As a shopkeeper referred to the matter when the BNP chief was distributing leaflets at Badda’s Shahjadpur, she said laughing: “That has been washed away by uprising of the people.”

“I’m seeing huge response wherever I’m going. I haven’t seen it before. A ballot revolution will take place in the three city corporations on Apr 28,” she added.

Reiterating her demand for deployment of army during the polls, Khaleda said: “Everybody wants army deployment. The ruling section doesn’t want troops deployment because they will steal votes.”

On Saturday, the BNP chief campaigned for her party-endorsed Dhaka North City mayoral aspirant Awal at Gulshan, Banani, Mohakhali, Badda.

Elections to Dhaka north and south and Chittagong city corporations will take place on Apr 28.
