AL: Tarique’s speech tantamount to sedition

BNP is trying to distort the history to overcome frustration of its leaders and activists, says Dr Hasan Mahmud

The Awami League has claimed that BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman’s comment claiming Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was an illegal prime minister of Bangladesh is tentamount to sedition.

Dr Hasan Mahmud, publicity and publication secretary of the ruling party, said this in a press conference at party president’s Dhanmondi office on Thursday afternoon.

The Awami League leader also claimed that BNP is trying to distort the history to overcome frustration of its leaders and activists.

“Tarique Rahman is hatching conspiracy against history from London to remove party leaders and activists’ frustration,” said Hasan Mahmud.

Tarique Rahman at a programme in London made the claim, the video of which was floated in the internet.

The claim has been made days after a wave of discussions over BNP’s claim that Ziaur Rahman was the first president of Bangladesh.

  1. Dr. Hasan Mahmud is full of…… The entire Awami junta has distorted Bangladesh history. They conveniently do not talk about BAKSAL administration. Some of these leaders are still alive and well. AL believes in dictatorship. Right at the very moment they are running Bangladesh illegally. Believe it or not.
