AL men attacking minorities planned way: BNP

Khaleda asks oppn activists to continue blockade

Opposition BNP on Wednesday alleged that the ruling party men are carrying out attacks on the minority communities at different parts of the country in a planned way to divert people’s attention from the ‘stage-managed, voter-less election’ to other direction.

In a statement, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, “In the face of widespread criticism at home and abroad and by different countries and institutions, planned attacks are being made on Hindus and other minorities across the country, including Jessore, Rangpur, Thakurgaon and Dinajpur, to divert people’s attention from the Jan 5 stage-managed election to other direction.”

The BNP leader also alleged that the current illegal government is pushing the country towards a serious anarchy and instability by implementing its plan to annihilate the opposition with the help of the law enforcers in a fascist style.

Fakhrul said the government will not be able to stop and stigmatise their ongoing movement by resorting to evil designs, plots and propaganda. “We’re determined to carry out our peaceful programmes facing all types of conspiracy until the people’s logical demand is met.

He said BNP chief Khaleda Zia asked the 18-party leaders and activists at all levels to peacefully continue their already enforced non-stop road-rail-waterway blockade as part of their continued movement.

Fakhrul also accused the ruling party ‘cadres’ of carrying out attacks on members of  minority communities, the opposition leaders and activists, their houses torching and looting their valuables.

“We strongly condemn and protest the heinous and planned attacks on the minority communities,” he added.

The BNP spokesman, on behalf of Khaleda Zia, called upon the leaders and activists of the 18-party to remain alert in preventing any type of attack on all communalities, including minorities and ensure security for them.

Besides, he also demanded the government arrest the real culprits, involved in the incidents and mete out exemplary punishment to them.

  1. Definitely Awami League cadres have looted and burned Hindu homes every time there was some trouble in Bangladesh. These goons have taken over Hindu properties or burned them and blamed the Jamaat or the Muslim parties. Awami league is the master of dirty tricks from ever since Sheikh Mujib became the thug for Hosein Shaheed Suhrawardy over 60 years ago. Now the Awami League is much better in their dirty work. Especially after RAW trained them well in Dehradun military complex in last few years.
