AL has no opponent in politics: Quader

Obaidul QuaderBangladesh Awami League presidium member Obaidul Quader today said there is no opponent of the ruling AL in politics now, according to state-run news agency BSS.
He said this while speaking at a view exchange meeting at the political office of AL president Sheikh Hasina at Dhanmondi in the capital.
The view exchange meeting between central AL and its legislators of the capital city and mayors of Dhaka south and north city corporations was convened to make a grand success its planned public rally to be organised at the city’s Suhrawardy Udyan on historic 7 March.
Earlier, another view exchange meeting with Awami Swechchasebak League was held at the same venue.
Obaidul Quader said, “Apparently, there’s no opponent of Awami League in politics now. Those who are supposed to be opponents have been suffering from different kinds of fear and panic. They (BNP) have turned out to be a party of complainants.”
The minister further said the BNP has taken refuge to politics of complaints “failing in movement after boycotting the national polls.”
“They have been lodging different types of complaints against the government. They could not take decision where (venue) they will organise their national council. But, they are complaining against the government that it has been obstructing their council.”
The senior AL leader said, “They (BNP) have failed to field candidates in 184 Union Parishads. On the contrary, they have been accusing Awami League of obstructing them in filing nomination papers. Had Awami League been obstructing them, brother of BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Alamgir would not have been elected as mayor of Thakurgaon (Municipality).”
