After infighting, ‘BCL activist’ shot dead in classroom

Khaled Ahmad, 23, was inside the classroom of Beanibazar Government College when unidentified youths stormed in and shot him around 12:30pm, our local correspondent reports quoting police.

Earlier around 11:00am, two groups of Chhatra League locked into a clash inside the college, said Sugyan Chakma, additional police superintendent of Sylhet.

The clash took place between two local Chhatra League groups – one led by Pavel and another by Pallab, witnesses and sources say.

The victim, who was an outsider in the college, said to have taken part in the clash.

Raihan Chowdhury, district BCL general secretary, identified Khaled as a BCL activist.  He is the supporter of Pavel group, local sources said.

On information, police recovered the body and sent to a local hospital. They also detained three persons from the shooting spot, the additional police superintendent said.
