Jahid Chowdhury alias Jahed, one of the masterminds of Fulgazi upazila chairman Ekramul Haque Ekram killing, on Monday told a local court that ruling party leader Jahangir Kabir Adel alias Jahangir Adel had ordered physical assault on Ekram and vandalising his vehicle.

Jahed, joint general secretary of Fulgazi upazila Awami League and a close aide to Feni-2 ruling party MP Nizam Uddin Hazari, said this when police produced him before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court with a 10-day remand prayer.

Jahangir Adel is the joint general secretary of district Awami League.

Meanwhile, the court placed him on an eight-day remand in the sensational murder case.

Jahed was taken to the court around 3:30pm amid tight security. No lawyer stood for him during the hearing.

Earlier on Sunday evening, police arrested the local Awami League leader from Barahipur in the district town.

Jahed had gone into hiding after Ekram’s killing.

On May 20, Fulgazi upazila chairman Ekramul Haque Ekram was shot and burnt to death by miscreants in the Academy area of the district town.

Police said Ekram, also president of upazila Awami League, came under the attack by miscreants, numbering 20-30, on his way to the upazila headquarters in his car from his residence in the town.
