The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has sent its two controversial officials on forced retirement after 25 years of their jobs.

The Cabinet Division issued separate gazette notifications in this regard on May 8.

According to the gazette notifications, the ACC at a recent meeting decided to send its deputy directors Ahsan Ali and M Shafiqul Islam on forced retirement on competition of their 25 years of jobs, and the decision was put forward to the Cabinet Division for the government’s approval.

The government sent the ACC officials on forced retirement under the Public Servants (Retirement) Act, 1974.

The gazette says the officials can enjoy government facilities as per rules after their retirement.

ACC sources said Ahsan Ali violated discipline of the commission as he had been working against a top ACC official, damaging its image. He was also sacked following graft allegations against him when Ghulam Rahman was the ACC chairman. He was later reinstated following a High Court order.

Shafiqul Islam was transferred to ACC’s Patuakhali Integrated District Office, but he refused to go there. So, the commission has sent him on forced retirement, the sources said.
