The abductors threatened to kill Dipu several times demanding the ransom, says Dipu’s mother
Members of Armed Police Battalion (APBn) 7 have rescued a school boy who was abducted from Salna area of Gazipur and arrested five alleged abductors on Thursday afternoon.
The information was disclosed in a press briefing held at the office of Gazipur police super on Friday.
The abducted was identified as Akramul Alam Dipu, 15, son of Nazrul Islam of Mirgoan area in Gazipur. He is a student of 10th grade in Salna Nasiruddin Memorial High School.
The arrestees were Ershad, 25, son of Abdus Samad Sarker of Mirgoan village , Shobuj, 22 , son of Kabir Uddin of the same village, Arsadul Islam, 20, son of Nazrul Islam of Dubachabi area under Nilphamari upazila, Ismail, 20, son of Borhanuddin and Khandkar Azizur Rahman, 34, son of late Shamsul Haque of Komorpara area of Rajbari.
APBN also seized the private car used by the abductors and recovered Tk4,000 of ransom from them.
Ashrafur Rahman, captain of APBn 7, said: “ Dipu was abducted by Shobuj at 4pm on April 29. Later Shobuj handed him to four others involved in the abduction. Dipu’s mother Aleya Begum filed a GD in this regard. They demanded Tk3 lakh as ransom from Dipu’s family. Meanwhile Tk 25,000 was paid through Bkash.”
He said: “Upon the information of the GD, APBn arrested Shobuj and tracked others based on his information. Later they rescued Dipu and arrested the abductors with a private car and Tk4,000 conducting a drive in Paikpara and Balla area in Tangail.”
Dipu was handed over to his mother after the press conference, he added.
Dipu said: “ The abductors gave soft drinks to me. After drinking it, I was senseless.”
Aleya Begum said: “The abductors threatened to kill Dipu several times demanding the ransom.”
APBn Additional Police Super Mahbubur Rahman, Associate Police Super Farhad Khan were present at the briefing among others.
