8 microentrepreneurs win 11th CMA

Eight microentrepreneurs under five categories received the 11th Citi Microentrepreneurship Awards at a programme in the city on Saturday.
Israt Jahan from Gangni, Meherpur, won the ‘Best Microentrepreneur of the Year’ with Tk 4.5 lakh in prize money for her project of Fish feed while Hasina Islam from Khilgaon, Dhaka became runner-up and received Tk 1 lakh for her venture of Skyneer Readymade Garments.
Ophina Begum from Madargonj, Thakurgaon won the ‘Best Woman Microentrepreneur of the Year’ with Tk 3.5 lakh in prize money for her project of organic manure and Rina Begum from Goal Chamot, Faridpur became runner-up receiving Tk 1 lakh for making bags.
Shohel Miaji from Puranbazar, Chandpur became the ‘Best Microentrepreneur of the Year in Agriculture’ and received Tk 3.5 lakh for fish farming in cage in river and Md Selim Reja from Alaipur, Natore, who was adjudged runner-up, received Tk 1 lakh for horticulture.
Integrated Development Foundation received the ‘Best Microfinance Institution of the Year’ award with Tk 3 lakh in prize money while Community Development Centre received the ‘Most Innovative Microfi nance Institution of the Year’ with Tk 4 lakh.
The 11th CMA advisory committee chairperson Wahiduddin Mahmud, Arlinks Limited managing director Rokia A Rahman, Director & Acting Citi Country Officer for Bangladesh Md Moinul Huq, Sajida Foundation Executive Director Zahida Fizza Kabir and Credit and Development Forum Executive Director Md Abdul Awal were present, among others.
The Citi Microentrepreneurship Awards has been supported by Citi Foundation and implemented by Citibank, NA Bangladesh with support from Sajida Foundation as the local partner and with the strategic partnership of Credit Development Forum.
